Nate and I went to visit with Grammie this weekend. She's been having some health issues lately, so we decided to go cheer her up. After she ran through her recent maladies (sciatica, gout, etc.), she mentioned that she had gone to see the doctor we "share" -- Dr. Payton.
Dr. Payton is an Ear/Nose/Throat guy, and I really like him. In addition to being a good doctor, he's really sweet and funny. That goes a long way in my book.
So Grammie went to see Dr. Payton about her recurring nosebleeds (she really needs to see him about her hearing aid, which she purchased about ten years ago from a traveling salesman -- seriously!) Dr. Payton cauterized the inside of her nose, which he'd done before, and which she told him didn't really do much good.
He told her that it would do much more good if he could remove her fingers.
Apparently, Grammie just keeps picking at it, and we all know what happens when we keep picking at a scab. It keeps bleeding!
As she left the office, Dr. Payton told her that instead of removing digits, he thought she should sit on her hands or wear mittens. Good advice! If we can get her to do that, maybe we can get her to purchase a working hearing aid, too.
