I am such a jerk...

In spite of my insistence to my father that he didn't have cancer, he does.

I feel totally rotten. Not just because I thought he was being a hypochondriac (which, honestly, he usually is, but this time he was right) but because *gosh darnit* he's my daddy, and I love him. I don't want him sick.

He was diagnosed with kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) yesterday. He has a tangerine-sized tumor on his kidney. They do not know if it has metastasized. He will be going in for an MRI and other testing within the next week or so. Once they have that information, they will determine proper treatment (surgery, chemo, radiation, immunotherapy, etc. – no idea yet what may be the best course of action).
